This is a common occurrence as many people prefer to give the gift of memories!

There are many wonderful destinations to consider if you are looking for a vacation during the holiday season. Some options are great for a last-minute trip while others would work better with more planning, perhaps for 2023!

GrinchmasTM is another can’t-miss experience, with a show featuring music and fun. You could even say hello to the Green Meanie himself, with a meet & greet opportunity with the GrinchTM.

Anaheim, California

There’s more than one way to experience the Disney magic during the holiday season! Head to the Disneyland Resort to experience “The Happiest Place on Earth”, with all its holiday glory! At Disneyland Park, make sure you see Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle and the holiday parade – A Christmas Fantasy Parade. Look for your favorite Disney friends dressed in their holiday best and don’t miss some of the festive treats, such as the Mickey Gingerbread cookie!

At Disney California Adventure, the Disney Festival of the Holidays allows guests to get a taste of the season with a variety of food kitchens offering drinks and bites from cultures around the world. Then, don’t miss World of Color – Season of Light. This seasonal show is a beautiful combination of water, light, and Disney stories and music.

Then, be sure to stop by the resort hotels and the Downtown Disney District too to take in all of the beautiful holiday décor. At Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa, there is a beautiful annual gingerbread house. The details are just amazing!

It’s here that you will find a stable, complete with farm animals and a traditional nativity. There are also beautiful holiday lights and music throughout the city. It’s certainly a sight to see and memories will be made!

Strasbourg, France

Known as the Capital of Christmas, Strasbourg is a top destination in Europe during the holiday season. There are so many reasons for this, including the fact that Strasbourg is home to France’s oldest Christmas market. The city transforms into several themed Christmas villages that are sure to delight your senses!

There is a Christmas program with concerts and a variety of cultural events. In addition, don’t miss farm-fresh foods and an endless choice of mulled Alsatian wines from 300 different chalets set up throughout the city.  You can shop, eat, and enjoy the ambiance of the beautiful city.

Salzburg, Austria

Here’s a fun fact for you. The well-known Christmas carol “Silent Night” was written about the town of Salzburg by a young priest named Joseph Franz Mohr. From the stunning views of the Alps to the filming locations of the classic movie The Sound of Music, this city is beautiful any time of the year. However, the popular Christmas Market brings even more magic and beauty, making this a must during the holiday season.

Paris, France

In the words of Audrey Hepburn, Paris is always a good idea. This is definitely the case during the holidays. December is not considered the high season in Paris. It is cold but there are lower crowds and the city is beautifully decorated for the holiday season.

While the Christmas markets are not quite as elaborate as other destinations in Europe, there are several throughout the city. Visitors will find opportunities to shop, taste different treats such as crepes with Nutella, and of course drink the famous vin chaud, mulled spiced wine. In Paris, the Christmas decorations are no joke! It is well worth exploring the different areas of the city. In fact, there are even guided tours to see them.

Other highlights during this time of year include Montmarte. This is a popular Instagram photo spot but it will be much less busy during the winter months. You might consider attending mass at the Sacre-Coeur on Christmas, as there are several times available. Alternatively, head to a Moulin Rouge show or the Trocadero to see winter views of the Eiffel Tower. Then, make sure you head to one of the cafes in the city to enjoy traditional French onion soup!
