Why book with a travel advisor?

Travel Advisors handle the tedious behind-the-scenes work that goes into planning and booking a vacation, and act as an advocate and personal concierge while you’re traveling. With a Travel Advisor on your team, you spend less time researching, calling, and worrying, which frees up your time for relaxing and making memories!

What types of vacation do you book? Do you focus exclusively on Disney vacations?

We’re a full-service travel agency! That means we can send you anywhere you can imagine. While we love Disney theme parks and cruises (and we’re an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner), we’re just as excited to explore the rest of the world. We’ve partnered with dozens of travel suppliers to make sure we have the globe covered when it comes to possible destinations.

Additionally, our award-winning training resources ensure that your Travel Advisor has the answers to all your questions, no matter where you’re headed.

Does it cost anything extra to book with a Travel Advisor?

In most cases, planning services are free of charge when you book with a Key to the World Travel® Advisor.

In some instances, a complex or special travel project may require an additional planning fee up front, to help compensate your advisor for time spent researching, planning, and booking your trip. In these rare occasions, your Travel Advisor will let you know in advance about the planning fee, so there are never any surprises on your end.

If I don't have to pay for your services, how do you get paid?

Travel Advisors are paid a commission by the hotel or destination after the guest travels. This commission is built into the price of every reservation you make, whether you book with a Travel Advisor or not.

This is why it never costs extra to use our services. Think of it like purchasing a home with the help of a realtor – you don’t pay in advance for their services, and their commission comes out of the purchase price of the home at closing.

I want to be able to choose what I do on vacation. Won't a travel advisor take over all the planning for my trip?

We’re here to do as much – or as little – work as you want. We just want to make it easier for you to enjoy your vacation on your terms. Travel Advisors are happy to create a complete custom itinerary based on your requests, book destinations that you’ve already decided on, or provide any level of service in between.

You’re always in complete control of your trip!

How do you handle payments for my vacation? Can I make monthly payments?

Typically, most travel suppliers allow multiple payments on your trip. In those cases, your travel advisor can make payments in any amount, at any time (as allowed by the supplier). Some components, like stroller rentals or standalone theme park tickets, may need to be paid in full at the time of booking. In this case, your Travel Advisor will let you know in advance.

If a promotion is announced after I book my vacation, can it be applied to my reservation?

Policies on this vary between suppliers, and depend on whether or not your trip is paid in full. However, in most cases, we can definitely update your reservation to get the best deal possible! Even better, once you’ve booked, your Key to the World Travel® Advisor will keep an eye out for new promotions that apply to your trip, and run a comparison of prices and inclusions to make sure you’re getting the best value on your vacation.

Can you help book travel for a large group?

Absolutely! We have a Group Travel Department that specializes in coordinating travel for larger groups. In fact, our Groups department has been recognized on an industry level for excellence in planning travel for schools groups, bands, choirs, sports teams, dance teams, and more!

Can you help plan travel for people with special needs?

At Key to the World Travel®, we believe that everyone has the right to explore the world through travel. We have a team of Travel Advisors dedicated to planning trips for guests with special needs of all types.

Our Keys to Inclusion team has been nationally recognized as a leader and innovator in the area of inclusive travel. On top of that, many of our Travel Advisors have completed training programs certifying them as experts in planning travel for guests with special needs of all types – mobility, cognitive, invisible disorders, and more.

Is Key to the World Travel® LGBTQIA+ friendly?

When we say everyone deserves the opportunity to travel, we mean everyone – regardless of gender identity or who they love. We have a dedicated, award-winning team of Travel Advisors who focus on making sure that our LGBTQIA+ guests feel safe and welcomed while exploring the world.

What happens if there's a snowstorm/hurricane/earthquake/power outage etc.?

Your Travel Advisor is ready to assist with rearranging your travel plans should the need arise. When severe weather is in the forecast, they’ll monitor the situation at the airport and your destination. Remember – your Key to the World Travel® Advisor is your personal concierge for the duration of your trip. Reach out to them as soon as possible when the need arises.

Do I really need travel insurance?

YES! The good news is we can help you pick the company and plan that works best for your trip and budget. Your Travel Advisor will provide all the information you need during the planning process.

Can I cruise without a passport?

While most cruise lines will allow you to board a ship with an original birth certificate rather than a passport, we HIGHLY recommend getting a passport before setting sail (make sure it’s a passport book, not a card!). In case of a medical or other emergency, a passport is the only way to reenter the United States by air. It’s best to get it before the trip so you don’t have to worry about applying for an emergency passport when time is of the essence!
