Royal Caribbean East Coast Cruises

When people envision cruising, the sun-soaked Caribbean or the awe-inspiring glaciers of Alaska often spring to mind. However, East Coast cruises present a uniquely captivating vacation experience, blending rich history, diverse cultures, and breathtaking natural landscapes.

From the warm Florida coast to the charming harbors of New England, these itineraries give you an amazing chance to experience the beauty of the Atlantic coast!

What to Know When Planning an East Coast Cruise

Boston MA - East Coast Cruises

The first consideration to make is whether you’d like to explore the northeast or the southeast.

If you decide to embark on an East Coast cruise that explores parts of New England and Canada, you’ll want to pack plenty of warm clothing, even in the summer. Nights get chilly, and while the beaches are beautiful, they may not be the best for swimming.

If you’re interested in a cruise along the southeastern coast, you can naturally expect warmer weather throughout the year.

Next, it’s important to research your cruise line and ship. Each cruise line will have different offerings and amenities to consider, such as:

  • Included Perks – Is an all-inclusive experience important to you? If so, you’ll want to look for ships that offer amenities and activities that match your priorities, such as pools, spas, dining options, entertainment, and fitness centers. Some cruise lines are all-inclusive, while others offer dining and drink packages for an additional cost.
  • Cabin Selection – Decide between interior, oceanview, balcony, or suite cabins based on your budget and preferences.
  • Family-Friendly vs. Adults-Only – Some cruise lines cater to families with kids’ clubs and family-friendly activities, while others offer adults-only experiences for a more tranquil getaway.

And last, be sure the cruise line offers the types of excursions that interest you. Some will be more geared toward activities like historic walking tours and sightseeing, while others offer adventurous activities like hiking or kayaking.

Many cruise lines offer a good variety of both – we can help you find an itinerary and cruise line that both exceed your expectations.

When is the Best Time to Take an East Coast Cruise?

No matter when you’re looking to cruise, there’s an itinerary for every time of the year. Spring cruises typically feature pleasant, mild weather, and a chance to see beautiful spring foliage. Destinations also tend to be less crowded compared to the heavy traffic they may experience in the summer.

Summer is the most convenient time to travel for many people, but especially families. Kids are out of school, the weather is warm and perfect for enjoying the beach, and northern destinations (such as the coastal ports in Canada) won’t be as cold. However, if you’re cruising in the summer – especially toward the Caribbean – it’s important to note that hurricane season is typically June through November. Plenty of cruises depart during those months with no issues, but it’s worth considering as weather can greatly impact cruise itineraries.

The New England area really shines in the fall with gorgeous foliage and cozy weather. Temperatures are cool, crowds are less dense than in summer, and many port cities host fall-themed events or themed tours.

Winter is the perfect time to escape to the south, and some cruise lines offer better rates for winter cruises. Enjoy the mild winter weather of southern ports like Charleston, Savannah, and Miami, or head further down to the Caribbean.

No matter when (or where) you’re looking to depart, Key to the World Travel® Advisors can help you find a cruise line and itinerary that has everything you want and more!
