Secrets and Dreams Resorts: All-Inclusive Beach Escapes for Couples and Families

Secrets and Dreams are sister brands within Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection, with beachfront resorts across Mexico and the Caribbean. Secrets is adults-only, and Dreams welcomes the whole family. At either brand, a day goes something like this.

Book a swim-out suite and your morning swim begins right off your terrace. Breakfast can come to your room, since room service runs around the clock. Lunch and dinner can come from any of the resort’s restaurants, with menus covering cuisines from around the world. For regular seating, you can walk in whenever you’re hungry. Out at the pool or on the beach, servers bring drinks and snacks straight to your lounge chair, with top-shelf spirits at every bar. Evenings bring live music and theme nights, and you can walk into any bar or show without a wristband.

Secrets: A Getaway for Two

At Secrets, those days belong to adults. There are no kids’ clubs or splash parks, so the pools stay calm and dinner feels like a date every night. Many suites have a hot tub out on the terrace for an evening soak.

Every Secrets spa has massage rooms designed for couples, plus body treatments and a full-service salon. At Secrets Playa Mujeres, just north of Cancún, the spa’s outdoor hydrotherapy circuit is the largest in the area, and the treatment menu includes a temazcal, a traditional Mexican sweat-lodge ceremony. If you’d rather stay active, spend an afternoon kayaking and snorkeling or take an art, dance or cooking class together. Resorts near good surf and golf courses add those to the list.

Plenty of couples come to Secrets to celebrate something, whether that’s an engagement, an anniversary, a honeymoon or the wedding itself. The resorts offer celebration packages for each of those, and on-site wedding coordinators take care of the details.

The newest addition for couples comes from a partnership with The Skin Deep, the Emmy Award-winning studio known for its {THE AND} conversation project. Together they created a card game exclusively for Secrets guests, with questions written for morning coffee, sunset cocktails and the quiet end of the day. It launched this summer at Secrets Moxché Playa del Carmen and Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya, and more Secrets resorts are adding it every month.

Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya, Tripadvisor’s #1 hotel in the world for 2025, sits on a white-sand beach along a calm stretch of the Caribbean. The bay is home to green sea turtles, so snorkeling or kayaking off the beach comes with a chance to see them. Winding walkways lead to secluded pools, and the spa menu includes a seaweed treatment and a facial created just for Secrets. Evenings might start with a tequila tasting and end with a concert under the stars.

Dreams: The Same Days, With the Kids Along

Dreams has the same easygoing days, with room for the whole family. Kids head to the Explorer’s Club for supervised activities like sandcastle competitions, and some resorts host weekly campout adventures. Every Explorer’s Club staff member is certified by the Red Cross in children’s CPR. Teens get the Core Zone, a hangout just for them with video games, movie nights and other teens to meet.

While the kids are busy, parents can book a treatment at the Dreams Spa or play a round at a nearby golf course.

Kids who like to cook can join in through Dreams’ partnership with MasterChef Junior. At participating resorts, kids take on Mystery Box challenges inspired by the show, and the whole family can order from a menu created by Season 9 winner Bryson McGlynn and finalist Remy Powell. Keep an eye out for surprise pop-ups by the pool, too.

The pools are made for splashing. Dreams Playa Mujeres has 65,000 square feet of pools, including a grotto pool, plus an on-site waterpark and its own stretch of white-sand beach. Dreams Natura, surrounded by Mayan jungle in the Riviera Cancún area, has a water park with a lazy river and a splash park where a giant bucket tips water onto whoever’s standing underneath. There’s also a rollglider ride over the grounds, and the resort’s spa is designed to look like the region’s cenotes, the natural limestone swimming holes the Yucatán is known for. Back in the room, connecting suites and villas give families space to spread out.

Next Door to Each Other

In several destinations, a Secrets and a Dreams sit side by side, and guests can move between them. At Playa Mujeres, both resorts are set within a gated community and a Greg Norman-designed golf course. Dreams guests 18 and older can walk three minutes to Secrets and use its restaurants, bars and facilities, and Secrets guests have complimentary access to Dreams.

You’ll find similar pairings in Puerto Vallarta, Punta Cana, on Banderas Bay and along the Dominican Republic’s northeast coast. At Vallarta Bay, Secrets guests can join a food and wine pairing in the wine cellar, then walk next door to Dreams for six more restaurants. Secrets Royal Beach sits on more than 700 yards of palm-lined sand in Punta Cana. On Banderas Bay, Secrets Bahia Mita is tucked between the mountains and the water, with a rooftop infinity pool overlooking the bay. Near the town of Miches, suites at Secrets Playa Esmeralda look out over a secluded cove, and in season, excursions head out to Samaná Bay for whale watching.

For a couple staying at Secrets, that means a much longer list of places to eat over a week. At resorts like Playa Mujeres, parents staying at Dreams can slip over to Secrets for a quiet dinner. At Bahia Mita, where the two resorts share their grounds most closely, Secrets guests may see families around the property.

Preferred Club

At both brands, a Preferred Club suite adds a private lounge to your days. Mornings can start there with coffee and a continental breakfast. Later in the afternoon, the lounge sets out hot and cold hors d’oeuvres, which makes it an easy place to stop for a drink before dinner, along with desserts and premium liquors. Check-in and check-out are handled personally, and the suite sits in a premium spot on the property, with an upgraded mini-bar and a pillow menu so you can pick how you sleep.

Many resorts also keep pools and beach areas just for club guests. Secrets Playa Esmeralda gives Preferred Club guests a private pool with a swim-up bar and a reserved section of beach. Two of the four pools at Secrets Royal Beach are for club guests only, one of them a lazy river, and there’s a private beach area too. Families at Dreams Royal Beach get a Preferred Club kids’ pool, and several resorts, including Secrets The Vine Cancun and Secrets Playa Esmeralda, add a butler who looks after your requests throughout the stay.

Where You’ll Find Them

Most Secrets and Dreams resorts sit along Mexico’s Caribbean and Pacific coasts or on the beaches of the Dominican Republic. Beyond those, Secrets Baby Beach Aruba sits on a quiet bay of clear turquoise water just past the town of San Nicolas. Secrets St. Lucia has a secluded beach with views of the island’s mountains and its volcanic sand beaches. In Costa Rica, Secrets Papagayo looks out over the Gulf of Papagayo, with rum tastings and paddleboard lessons on the activity schedule.
