Keys to Disney California Adventure

Disney California Adventure opened in 2001. This theme park celebrates your favorite Disney stories and brings them to life with different lands throughout the park. Let’s talk about the keys to Disney California Adventure!

Welcome to the Golden Age of Hollywood!

As you enter the park, enjoy the views along Buena Vista Street. This area is a busy place with character meet-and-greets, the Red Trolley, and shops to find the perfect souvenir. It’s also the home of the Carthay Circle Restaurant, inspired by the legendary theatre in Hollywood. Make sure you stop at the Storytellers statue for a photo with Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse! As you explore the park, you will see how many Disney stories inspired its creation. It’s easy to feel as though you’ve stepped into the stories, with the magic all around you.

Hollywood Land

This land is home to several different shows and attractions. Walk down Buena Vista Street and enter Hollywood Land where you’ll find fun for the whole family. Don’t miss Mickey’s Philharmagic, a 3D journey through beloved Disney films, or Turtle Talk with Crush, a fun chat with the beloved turtle from Finding Nemo and Finding Dory.

Try your hand at drawing your favorite Disney characters at the Animation Academy and Pixar fans will love seeing their favorites from Monsters, Inc. when you ride the family-friendly attraction, Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!

Avengers Campus

The Avengers have assembled at Disney California Adventure! This land opened in 2021 and features many of your favorite Marvel superheroes.

There are two exciting attractions in this land that you do not want to miss! It’s time to help Rocket save the Guardians of the Galaxy from the Collector’s Fortress on Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! Then, Spider-Man needs your help because the Spider-Bots are out of control! It’s time to be a hero when you ride WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure.

As you explore the headquarters of the superheroes, make sure you pay attention to all of the details around you. Several Marvel characters are waiting to meet you, from Spider-Man to Captain America. There are also many Easter eggs, from the Hulk tree to remnants of the Strategic Scientific Reserve. In addition, there is a great restaurant offering dining options of epic proportions, Pym Test Kitchen.

Cars Land

It’s time to start your engines and take a drive through Radiator Springs. Guests of all ages will love strolling back in time to enjoy all of the incredible details inspired by the beloved movie.

There are three attractions to enjoy as you roam the land. First, it’s time for a road race on Radiator Springs Racers. Take a tour of Ornament Valley and then arrive in Radiator Springs to get ready for the race. Lightning McQueen and his friends are there to cheer you on and help you get ready and then it’s time to hit the road! Then, head to Casa Della Tires’ storage yard to be swept away to Italy on Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters. Finally, Mater has prepared for a lively square dance in his junkyard at Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree so hop in a tractor and hold on tight as you’re taken on a ride with all the right dance moves!

If your adventures with Lightning McQueen have revved up your appetite, there are a few quick-service restaurants including Flo’s V8 Cafe and the Cozy Cone Motel.

San Fransokyo Square

The newest addition to Disney California Adventure is the San Fransokyo Square. This area of the park has been reimagined with a theme inspired by Big Hero 6. There are several quick-service dining options and shops.

There is also a fun new meet-and-greet opportunity with characters from the movie including Baymax.

Pixar Pier

Adventure is out there and Pixar Pier is the place to be to bring some of your favorite Pixar stories to life! Go on a high-speed chase to find Jack Jack on the Incredicoaster or try your hand at carnival-style games as you go on a 4D adventure on Toy Story Midway Mania! Then, head to the Pixar Pal-A-Round, one of the staple attractions of this land. What will you choose – swinging or stationary?

Take a stroll along the boardwalk and enjoy the themed attractions, dining options, and shops. Then, make sure you are on the lookout for some fun character meet-and-greet opportunities along the way.

Paradise Gardens Park

This area of the park is home to several popular attractions. For example, it’s time to head to flight school in a silly way on Goofy’s Sky School. Aspiring pilots of all ages will love this coaster-style attraction. Then, go on a musical journey under the sea on The Little Mermaid – Ariel’s Undersea Adventure.

In addition, Paradise Gardens Park is home to live entertainment such as A Musical Celebration of Coco and the Mariachi Divas. The offerings change seasonally so make sure you check the Disneyland mobile app during your visit for details. This is also the location to find various festivals throughout the year. Watch Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession or taste cuisine inspired by the Golden State during the Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival.

Grizzly Peak

This area of the theme park is all about adventure! Whether you go soaring around the world or go on a wilderness adventure like no other, you’ll find it here.

Go on a whitewater raft adventure on Grizzly River Run or prepare for lift-off as you go on a hang-gliding adventure past the wonders of the world on Soarin’ Around the World. Then, go on a wilderness adventure perfect for the whole family as you conquer the ropes course or glide down the natural rock slide on the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail.

If you are staying at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa, the exclusive park entrance is in this area. As you enter the park, you’ll see the rapids of Grizzly River Run waiting for you!

Entertainment

At Disney California Adventure, there are entertainment options throughout the park! Be on the lookout for your favorite Avengers flying through the air or musical performances throughout the seasons.

World of Color – ONE

This stunning show celebrates the legacy of storytelling that Walt Disney brought to life. The show features beloved characters from Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel!

To view this show, the best option is to utilize the reserved viewing areas located in Paradise Gardens Park. The viewing area is accessible using the virtual queue or with a voucher from a dining package or dessert party.

Shows

There are several opportunities throughout the park to enjoy live entertainment and shows. These offerings are all listed on the Disneyland mobile app and some do change seasonally.

At the Avengers Campus, stop and watch the Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Dance Off! This show features Star-Lord and Gamora rocking out to some classic hits. You’re even encouraged to join in and show off your best moves! Then, stick around for Groot, as he will often join the party a little later to say hello! There are several other opportunities throughout the day to see your favorite Avengers performing such as Spider-Man and Dr. Strange.

The Paradise Gardens Bandstand offers a rotating lineup of musical acts as well as seasonal entertainment. Sit at the tables in a quaint garden setting and enjoy

Young children will love the Disney Junior Dance Party! Located in Hollywood Land, this high-energy show gets the whole audience moving with appearances from beloved Disney Junior characters including Vampirina, Doc McStuffins, and Mickey and the Roadster Racers

Characters

There are many opportunities to meet characters at Disney California Adventure. Most characters pop up in designated areas throughout the park. For example, Mickey & Friends tend to meet along Buena Vista Street. You might also encounter classic and rare characters such as Clarabelle, Horace, and Oswald! Over at Pixar Pier, look for Joy and Sadness or friends from Toy Story.

Several Marvel characters have meet-and-greet opportunities in the Avengers Campus including Spider-Man, Black Widow, and Dr. Strange. There are also characters that roam throughout the land.

There are also some regular meet and greet opportunities. For example, meet the royal sisters from Frozen in Hollywood Land. Anna and Elsa are waiting to give you a royal welcome!

Dining

Whether you prefer a grab-and-go snack, a sit-down meal, or character dining, you can find it all at Disneyland Park. Reservations at table-service restaurants can be made up to 60 days prior and mobile ordering is available at many quick-service locations.

Carthay Circle

This popular restaurant was meticulously created to replicate the iconic Carthay Circle Theatre in Los Angeles. The design and decor is inspired by the Golden Age of Hollywood and features a menu with Southern California flavors and local ingredients.

Lamplight Lounge

Enjoy signature cocktails, great food, and picturesque views of Pixar Pier at this Pixar-themed restaurant and lounge. Advance reservations are highly recommended and can be made up to 60 days prior.

Pym Test Kitchen

In Avengers Campus, Ant-Man and the Wasp are experimenting with some marvelous technology in a quick-service restaurant offering tiny bites and entrees to share. Pym Test Kitchen is the place to be to taste-test all of their creations!

Use the Disneyland mobile app to place your mobile order for food and drinks at this location. This is a great way to save time during your park visit.

Ready for Your Visit?

Currently, guests are required to have a park pass reservation in order to enter Disney California Adventure. This is required in addition to your theme park ticket. Make sure that you make your theme park reservation online prior to arrival to save time. Please note that reservations are always subject to availability.
