EPCOT Touring Strategies

by Oct 27, 2022

From eating and drinking around the World Showcase to fantastic thrill rides and hugs with your favorite Disney Princess, EPCOT has it all! The Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow has different neighbors and there is plenty to explore. So, how do you see it all? There are a few different EPCOT touring strategies to help!

How Many Days to Visit?

EPCOT is a big park! It is shaped like an hourglass and has different “neighborhoods”, all of which are worth exploring. Depending on your interests and what you want to do during your vacation, it’s possible to spend two days here, or even more time if you have a park hopper.

However, it’s often assumed that if you are looking to skip a park at the Walt Disney World Resort, there’s not much to do at EPCOT. This is absolutely not the case! EPCOT is always worth a visit for at least one day. That includes if you are traveling with kids!

When to Arrive

Like the other Disney parks, it’s beneficial to arrive early at EPCOT. Take advantage of Early Park Entry and “Rope Drop” for the shortest lines at the most popular attractions. It’s also easy to navigate the park if you are park hopping or arriving later in the day.

There are two entrances to EPCOT. Enter the park either at the Main Entrance or the International Gateway. The International Gateway is between the France and United Kingdom pavilions in the World Showcase.  Two of the most popular attractions to ride at the beginning of the day are in the World Showcase – Frozen Ever After and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure.

Touring Plans

There are two different touring strategies included here for EPCOT. Keep in mind that these can be easily adjusted or modified based on your interests.

Touring with Young Children

It is a common misnomer to say that you can just skip EPCOT because there is nothing there for children. There are a lot of attractions that are perfect for little ones because they do not have a height requirement.

Here are a few more things to consider as you tour EPCOT with young children:

  • There are indoor and outdoor play spaces with plenty to explore. For example, make time to explore SeaBase to see dolphins, manatees, and even a Hidden Mickey!
  • There are so many characters throughout EPCOT. From Disney Princesses to Mickey and friends, the kids (and grown-ups) will love meeting their favorites!
  • If you want to experience an attraction that your young child cannot ride, use the rider swap option. Speak with a cast member at the ride entrance to get it set up.
  • If you need a quiet space to take care of your baby’s needs, head to the Baby Care Center located between Test Track and the Mexico Pavilion. There are changing tables, rocking chairs, baby care items for purchase, and even a private space for nursing mothers.

This touring plan is designed to help you see and do it all! All of the attractions and some recommended shows are included. Be sure to check the My Disney Experience mobile app for showtimes.

Here are a few more things to consider as you plan your visit:

  • EPCOT is shaped like an hourglass and has different “neighborhoods”. Keep the location of the attraction in mind as you select them because the park is quite big!
  • Although there is construction due to the ongoing reimagining of the park, there is still plenty to see and do!
  • Don’t miss the entertainment throughout the park, as there are performers in several pavilions throughout the World Showcase. There is also often live music in the evenings at the American Gardens Theatre.
  • There are four festivals at EPCOT throughout the year. Each one offers a different theme, entertainment, food, and activities. Be sure to grab your festival passport on your way into the park and jump in on the fun!

Touring with Disney Genie+

If you have Disney Genie+, be sure to select the most popular attractions first. At EPCOT, that includes Frozen Ever After, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, and Test Track. You may find it helpful to arrive early to ride one of these attractions using the standby queue. In addition, as the day goes on, wait times for many attractions tend to drop.

If you opt not to use Disney Genie+ here, you may still consider purchasing an Individual Lightning Lane entry for Guardians of the Galaxy – Cosmic Rewind. You do not need to purchase both and it’s worth it, especially if you are not able to join the virtual queue!

Things to Consider:
  • Use the virtual queue or purchase an Individual Lightning Lane Entry if you plan to ride Guardians of the Galaxy – Cosmic Rewind. Make sure you do this starting at 7:00 am on the day of your visit.
  • There are many character meet and greets throughout EPCOT. Check the My Disney Experience mobile app for details and wait times. These are not included with Disney Genie+.
  • Make sure that you select the most popular attractions first if you are using Disney Genie+, as they will run out the quickest.
  • With the right strategies and help from your travel advisor, it’s possible to not purchase Disney Genie+ at EPCOT and still have a fantastic day!
