Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter Overview

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter is one of the five “Moderate” hotels on Walt Disney World® property. The hotel opened in May 1991 and features a New Orleans during Mardi Gras theme. Port Orleans – French Quarter is considered by many guests to be one of the most relaxing Moderate hotels at Walt Disney World®, and It’s easy to see why it’s so popular with couples and families alike.

 

 

Disney’s Port Orleans – French Quarter features seven buildings with a total of approximately 1,000 rooms. The resort is broken up into two sections (North Quarter and South Quarter) and one main building called French Quarter Square. There is one pool, with a slide, called Doubloon Lagoon, as well as a children’s Aquatic Play Area.  Also located near the pool is the Mardi Grogs Pool Bar, where every day is Fat Tuesday!

 

 

The resort buildings feature a beautiful New Orleans style architecture. Around the property, you’ll find cobblestone streets, gas lamps and wrought iron balconies giving the area a romantic and timeless feel. If you have an afternoon off from the parks, taking a stroll around the grounds enjoying the magnolia blossoms and walkway along the Sassagoula River is a great way to relax.

 

 

When booking a room at Disney’s Port Orleans – French Quarter, Guests have a choice of Standard View, Garden View, River View, King Bed, and Pool View. The Standard rooms have a  view of the Resort Hotel or Parking Areas, the Garden View rooms have a view of the garden areas, the River View rooms have a view of the Sassagoula River and the Pool View rooms have a view of the Doubloon Lagoon Pool area. All rooms are 314 square feet and feature two sinks, coffee maker, small refrigerator, and a safe. One thing to keep in mind is that this resort is often excluded from Walt Disney Travel Company promotions.

 

 

The main building holds the lobby/check-in desk as well as the Sassagoula Floatworks Quick Service dining location(Be sure to grab some of their delicious beignets!). The resort has a fun lounge called Scat Cat’s Club. This southern-style jazz lounge features appetizers, a full bar, and live music! Bus stops are located in front of the building where you can board a bus to the parks or Disney Springs™. The resort also features the Sassagoula River Cruise which is a free service that ferries guests to and from Disney Springs™. Jackson Square Gifts and Desires is located near the check-in area in the main building. In the shopping area, you can find souvenirs, snacks, and essentials like first aid supplies and toiletries. 

Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter is located adjacent to its sister resort Port Orleans – Riverside. Its close proximity allows guests to enjoy the dining and pool amenities and the theming of both resorts.

 

 

 

As with all on-site Disney Resorts, new parking rates went into effect for new reservations made March 21, 2018, and thereafter. Standard overnight self-parking is available to registered Guests for a fee of $19 per night (sales tax included). Complimentary standard self-parking is available while you enjoy select dining, shopping, entertainment and recreation experiences at this Resort.

With it’s fun theming, relaxing grounds and beautiful architecture, it’s easy to see why Disney’s Port Orleans – French Quarter is a great resort for both romantic getaways and making magical family memories while staying at Walt Disney World®.
