Enter a world of magic, art and larger than life characters based on your favorite Walt Disney and Disney•Pixar movies at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. This hotel is part of the “Value” resort family on Walt Disney World® property and is located in what’s known as the Wide World of Sports® resort area. The resort opened in May 2012 and has 864 rooms and 1,120 family suites. The Standard Rooms accommodate up to 4 guests, plus one child under the age of 3 in a crib.  The Family Suites accommodate up to 6 guests, plus one child under the age of 3 in a crib.

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort celebrates the storytelling and animation of four classic films – Finding Nemo, Cars, and The Lion King, and The Little Mermaid.  All of the standard rooms are located in the three buildings in The Little Mermaid section, which is situated at the far end of the resort, and then the other three sections house all of the Family Suites. The Cars Section has the most number of rooms, with three full buildings, and then Finding Nemo and The Lion King sections each have two buildings of guest suites.

There are three pools located at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. Based on the Disney animated classic The Little Mermaid, the Flippin’ Fins Pool features the “Under the Sea Orchestra” conducted by Sebastian and a host of characters from the movie. The Cozy Cone Pool is quieter, and has cone-shaped cabanas around the swimming pool! Inspired by the Disney•Pixar film Finding Nemo, the zero-entry Big Blue Pool is the largest hotel pool on property, and features underwater speakers for listening to your favorite Disney songs! For the little ones, Schoolyard Sprayground has spraying water and pop-up jets. The Drop Off Pool Bar is located nearby as well!

The Lion King area of the resort features a highly-themed play area where kids can run around amongst the characters from the film. Squirt’s Righteous Reef is a Nemo-themed playground, located near The Big Blue pool is another fun location for younger kids to play. And kids of all ages will love seeing life-sized models of their favorite Cars – located around the Cozy Cone Pool. Definitely bring the cameras! For running enthusiasts, there is a jogging trail around the property. Nightly Movies Under the Stars Watch are shown on the grassy area found between The Lion King and Finding Nemo buildings.

When booking rooms at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, guests have a choice of a Little Mermaid Standard Room, Cars Family Suites, Lion King Family Suites, Finding Nemo Family Suites, or just a Family Suite. The standard rooms offer views of the Courtyard, Pool, or Parking area, have 2 Double Beds or 1 King Bed, and are themed after The Little Mermaid movie. These rooms are entered into via an outside corridor. The Cars Family Suites, Lion King Family Suites, Finding Nemo Family Suites offer views of the Courtyard, Pool or Parking Area, have 1 Queen Bed and 1 Double-Size Table Bed and 1 Double-Size Sleeper Sofa plus a kitchenette and 2 bathrooms, and are themed after the respective movie. If you select Family Suite the theme will be assigned upon check-in. These rooms are entered into via an interior hallway. The Finding Nemo section is considered preferred because of its large pool and close proximity to dining and transportation and will have a small premium included in the price. The actual view from your room is assigned at the time of check-in.

Animation Hall is the main building where you will check-in. Be sure to take some time to look at all of the artist’s renderings.  As you move through the building the drawings go from concept to look more like the characters you know and love from the films. Animation Hall is also home to Landscape of Flavors – the quick service food court featuring 5 areas with build-your-own burgers, pizza, salad and specialty beverages. The Ink & Paint Shop and Pixel Play Arcade are also located in this building. Right outside is the bus stop where you can board a bus to the parks or Disney Springs™.

As with all on-site Disney Resorts, new parking rates went into effect for new reservations made March 21, 2018, and thereafter. Standard overnight self-parking is available to registered Guests for a fee of $13 per night (sales tax included).
