Disney’s All-Star Resorts Overview

by Jun 5, 2018

The Disney’s All-Star Resorts area is comprised of three hotels – Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort, Disney’s All-Star Music Resort, and Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort. These resorts part of the “Value” hotel family on Walt Disney World® property and are located in what’s known as the Animal Kingdom® resort area. Although they are separate resorts and have very different themes, the resorts themselves have the same general layout, amenities, and rooms types, larger than life icons, resort layout, and were built around the same time – All-Star Sports and Music Resorts opened in 1994, and All-Star Movies Resort opened later in 1999. In total, the resorts have 5,264 rooms and 260 Family Suites (located at All-Star Music).

Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort celebrates all things sport! The resort features ten buildings divided into five sections – Touchdown, Home Run Hotel, Center Court, Surf’s Up! And Hoops Hotel – and one main building called Stadium Hall. There are two heated pools that carry the theme along as well. Surfboard Bay Pool makes you feel like you are at the beach, and Grand Slam Pool, which is shaped like a baseball diamond, and features Goofy on a pitcher’s mound lobbing a stream of water at swimmers. There is also a kids pool located near Surfboard Bay, a playground, jogging trail, and pool bar called Grandstand Spirits. Movies under the Stars are shown here at night.

Disney’s All-Star Music Resort is all about the music! The resort features ten buildings divided into five sections – Rock Inn, Jazz Inn, Calypso, Broadway Hotel, and Country Fair – and one main building called Melody Hall. There are two heated pools that carry the theme along as well. Fantasia Pool is inspired by the Disney classic Fantasia and is home to a Sorcerer Mickey fountain while the Duck Pond Pool is based on The Mighty Ducks film series. There is also a kids pool located near Melody Hall, a playground, jogging trail, and pool bar called Singing Spirits. Movies under the Stars are shown here at night.

Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort is a celebration of classic Disney movies! The resort features ten buildings divided into five sections – Mighty Ducks, 101 Dalmatians, Toy Story, Fantasia, and Love Bug – and one main building called Cinema Hall. There are two heated pools that carry the theme along as well. Surfboard Bay Pool makes you feel like you are at the beach, and Grand Slam Pool, which is shaped like a baseball diamond and features Goofy on a pitcher’s mound lobbing a stream of water at swimmers. There is also a kids pool located near Cinema Hall, a playground, jogging trail, and pool bar called Silver Screen Spirits. Movies under the Stars are shown here at night.

When booking rooms at Disney’s All-Star Resorts, guests have a choice of Standard or Preferred, and at All-Star Music, a Family Suite. The Standard rooms have a view of the Resort Hotel or Parking Areas, and the Preferred rooms have a view of the Courtyard, Pool or Parking Areas, but are located close to the main building, Dining, Shopping, and Transportation. Other than location, the standard and preferred rooms themselves are all the same, featuring 2 double beds or 1 king bed, and can sleep up to 4 (plus a child under the age of 3). The Family Suites feature views of the Pool, Courtyard or Parking Area and have 1 Queen Bed and 1 Twin-Size Sleeper Chair and 1 Double-Size Sleeper Sofa and 1 Twin-Size Sleeper Ottoman, and can sleep up to 6 (plus a child under the age of 3).

Stadium, Melody, or Cinema Hall is the first area of the resort you will encounter as you check in, and is decorated to invoke some of the great events and items from each of the represented theme. The Hall also contains the shopping and quick service dining area as well as an arcade. Bus stops are located in front of the hall where you can board a bus to the parks or Disney Springs™.

As with all on-site Disney Resorts, new parking rates went into effect for new reservations made March 21, 2018, and thereafter. Standard overnight self-parking is available to registered Guests for a fee of $13 per night (sales tax included). Complimentary standard self-parking is available while you enjoy select dining, shopping, entertainment and recreation experiences at this Resort.

Disney’s All-Star Resorts are a great on-site option for families on a budget, who still want all of the Disney amenities and benefits.
