The Disney Genie+ has arrived at both the Walt Disney World Resort and the Disneyland Resort. This all-new system is designed to help guests maximize their time in the parks. This is your complete guide to Disney Genie+, with everything you need to know about the new service.
Three Components
Disney Genie
First, let’s talk about the Disney Genie Service. This all-new service is built into the My Disney Experience app and offers complimentary features to help you plan your day at the Walt Disney World theme parks. Select your interests such as dining, characters, and attractions that you want to experience during the day. The Disney Genie will help you navigate through the park and adjust its recommendations based on your interests. It continues to offer recommendations throughout the day.
Plus, there is a custom tip board where you can see estimated wait times for attractions, order food, check in for a dining reservation, join a virtual queue, and more. This is all found within the My Disney Experience and there is no charge to use these new tools.
Disney Genie+
The Disney Genie+ is an additional feature that works with the Disney Genie. This paid service allows you access to many attractions and experiences with shorter wait times. You select Lightning Lane arrival times throughout the day, and if you have the park hopper option, across all theme parks.
Individual Lightning Lanes
Individual Lightning Lane attractions are the most popular attractions in each park. These attractions are available for purchase “a la carte” each day. However, they are subject to availability. The pricing for these attractions will vary by day. Guests may purchase up to 2 different Individual Lightning Lane attractions per day.

Frequently Asked Questions
How Does It Work?
This service is available at both the Walt Disney World Resort and the Disneyland Resort. However, it works a little differently at each destination.
Walt Disney World Resort
At the Walt Disney World Resort, purchase the Disney Genie+ one day at a time, starting the first day you want to use the service.
Since guests select their first option starting at 7:00 am, be sure to purchase before 7:00 am on the day of your visit. You do not need to be in the park to purchase and select your Lightning Lane return times.
Starting at 7:00 am on the day of your visit, guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel can choose from over 40 attractions, one at a time throughout the day. Continue to choose Lightning Lane arrival windows throughout the day, until the parks close. Please note that experiences are subject to limited availability.
Guests staying at the Walt Disney World Resort will also select their Individual Lightning Lane times starting at 7:00 am. Guests who are staying off-site will not be able to access these attractions until the park where opens where each attraction is.
In addition, starting on June 27, 2023, guests will choose whether they would like to purchase Disney Genie+ for one park per day or a multi-park option. If you are park hopping, you choose the multi-park option. For those who have base tickets, you may save a little bit when you do the single-park purchase.
Disneyland Resort
At the Disneyland Resort, the Disney Genie+ service works a little differently. Guests can purchase this service in advance. However, you do not select any attractions until you have arrived at the park. In fact, you will not be able to make your selections until you are inside the park.
This system works very effectively at the parks though, with many attractions still having availability throughout the day.
Fun Perks
Plus, there are some fun bonuses when you purchase Disney Genie+. With the Disney PhotoPass Lenses, access special Disney PhotoPass Lenses for your phone to add some magic to your own photos. Audio Tales help you discover the parks in exciting new ways with fun facts and behind-the-scenes information you can listen to as you explore.
At the Disneyland Resort, all guests have access to their Disney PhotoPass photos included when they purchase the Disney Genie+ Service.
How Much Does It Cost?
The prices for both Disney Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lanes at the Walt Disney World Resort will vary by date, attraction, and park. The prices may be lower or higher depending on the day. A good rule of thumb would be to expect higher prices during busier times.
At the Disneyland Resort, purchase Disney Genie+ ahead of time for the length of your ticket. You may get this service as an add-on to your ticket or vacation package purchase. The pricing starts at $25 per ticket per day and is subject to availability. You may be able to purchase the service on the day of your visit. However, please note that there may be days when sales are stopped based on demand. Like at the Walt Disney World Resort, the pricing and availability for Individual Lightning Lane attractions will vary by date and attraction.
Do I Need to Purchase These Services?
The short answer to this question is no. There are many ways to utilize the Disney Genie Service and one of the biggest perks is that you do NOT need to purchase each component. It’s easy to mix and match how you use the components and your travel advisor is a great resource to help you make the most of your time in the parks.
Benefits of Disney Genie+
This new service is a change from the previous guest experience at the Walt Disney World Resort. However, it offers increased flexibility and ease of planning. This will result in guests being able to maximize their park time and experience all of those must-do attractions throughout the day.
Guests can add Disney Genie+ to their tickets daily. At the Walt Disney World Resort, it’s important to purchase this before 7:00 am if you decide to do so because you may begin selecting your return times for attractions starting at 7:00 am.
There is no longer a need to know exactly what attractions you want to do 60 days in advance. In fact, with this new service, guests decide on the morning of their park visit what they want to. If plans change for any number of reasons, it’s easy to adjust accordingly based on availability.
Also, it is important to remember that this is an optional service, and stand-by lines will still be available. This service is designed to give guests a positive experience in the parks by reducing time in lines and adding some fun extras. However, it is not designed to get you a Lightning Lane entry for every ride in the parks. A combination of the three components may be utilized throughout your visit, in addition to your travel advisor’s guidance.
