Disney’s FastPass+ Service is a ride reservation system utilized at the Walt Disney World® Resort. It is designed to moderate wait times at popular attractions. Understanding how to use FastPass+ is important for a smooth trip, especially if you want to experience lots of attractions or are unable to arrive at park opening. Let’s delve into the details.
What is Fastpass+?
Somewhat like making a dinner reservation at a restaurant, FastPass+ allows you to make a reservation to ride an attraction at a Walt Disney World® theme park. Each FastPass+ ride reservation lasts for an hour (reservation windows for shows may be shorter). Thus, if you make a FastPass+ reservation to ride Space Mountain® at 7:30 PM, you have until 8:30 PM to use it or change it to something else. Just like a restaurant reservation, your FastPass+ may be canceled if you don’t show up on time. (In practice, you can usually be up to 5 minutes early or 15 minutes late to use your FastPass+ reservation).
There is no charge to use FastPass+ — it comes free with park admission to everyone. You will not be charged a fee if you miss your window of time either. You start out with 3 per day. Once the time on the 3rd reservation you may select a 4th on your phone.
How do you make Fastpass+ reservations, and what are my options?
Fastpass+ selections are made via your MyDisneyExperience (MDX) account beginning at 7 am EST, 60 days before your check-in date for on-site guests and 30 days before you plan to use it for off-site guests. They can be made via the computer or the mobile app. You do so by going to the Fastpass+ option on the drop down screen. Select the members of your party that you are making Fastpass+ selections for (if it is before 7 am on your 60th day, guests are not selectable), and then choose the date and park you are making reservations for, and then select the rides/attractions. You will be able to do them one by one. Pick a ride and the time you want, and then when you are done you can select another – up to 3 ahead of time.
TIP: if you are selecting hard to get options such as Frozen Ever After or Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, pick a date furthest in your trip to get these, you will have better luck.
