What is truly the best age to visit the Walt Disney World® Resort?

by Aug 18, 2017

Over the last several weeks, I have seen an increase is people asking what the best age is to visit Walt Disney World®Resort on different social media platforms. At the end of this blog, you will know the absolute best age to visit Walt Disney World®Resort.

Some people wonder if their kids are too young or too old. The won’t remember it or they’ll be bored since Walt Disney World®Resort is for little kids, right?

My first trip to Walt Disney World® Resort was when I was 19…yes, a teenager!  I was engaged, and I made the trip with my soon-to-be husband and in-laws. I was SO excited!  I had no idea what to expect and (being that was many years ago) I didn’t really have the internet to Google every single thing Disney I could find. When we arrived, I was completely in awe. It was so immersive and magical. I felt like a kid all over again!  My soon-to-be husband and I stayed in the parks from opening until close and park hopped several times a day. It was awesome!  Yes, this was the best time for us to visit. When we were old enough to go off on our own and experience the parks all day and most of the night and get up and do it all over again!

As a family, we have taken each of our kids when they were pretty small. Our older two had their first visits at 15 months old and our youngest when she was 9 months old. We got a lot of “Are you sure they aren’t too young?” And “They won’t even remember it!”, but we went anyway. And you know what, we had an amazing time and there is nothing that can replace those memories that were made. Their little faces full of wonder and amazement at all the magical things as far as the eye could see. Their eyes lighting up when they met their favorite character for the first time. Do they remember anything from those trips?  No, but I can tell you they had an amazing time and we have TONS of photos to remember those times. I can tell you that this is the best time to go…it’s completely unforgettable as a parent. To see all of the whimsy and fantasy through a child’s eyes for the first time…I’ll admit I may have shed a tear or two (or many.)

My husband fondly remembers the visit he made with his parents and grandparents. They rode Big Thunder Mountain Railroad® and screamed with glee like kids as the train went around the tracks. Now that his grandparents have passed, he has those memories that he cherishes. They were in their 50s, so weren’t they too old?   Not even a little bit. There’s something to be said for a place that can make both old and young alike be filled with fantastical thoughts, pixie dust, and plenty of wishes.

Did the magic stop there?  Have our kids lost that look as we’ve continued to visit throughout the years?  Absolutely not. I’ll never forget my daughter’s face as she fought Darth Vader during Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple when she was 5, or my son’s first drop on The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™!  They still love it and light up as they look around, and we are still making some pretty fantastic memories that we will cherish for the rest of our lives.

So, to answer your question…what IS the best age to visit Walt Disney World®Resort? Anytime, friend. Any and all ages. There is none too young or none too old.

“Adults are only kids grown up, anyway.”- Walt Disney
